Valentine’s Day Vittles

13 Feb

Today was the perfect day to do some Valentine’s Day baking, so I decided to make one of my favorite things — cupcakes.  Cupcakes are easy to bake and fun to decorate.

My lovely daughter helped decorate these once they cooled off, and I think she did a mighty nice job!  She came up with some interesting combinations that I would not have thought of, including the addition of Rice Krispie cereal for a decorative topping.  Brilliant!

I do believe that I got the “hang of” mastering the simple swirly icing twirl that fancies the tops of cupcakes that one might find in their local cupcake shop.  I could seriously ice cupcakes all day long…it’s just one of those things that makes me smile.

The best part of baking is sharing the bounty.  We have quite an assortment to share this Valentine’s Day.

What kinds of things do you like to bake for Valentine’s Day?

There are many simple things that can be prepared and given as gifts to friends and loved ones for Valentine’s Day.  If you want to make something special and unique, check out my article on How to Make Chocolate Tuxedo Strawberries.  These beauties are fairly simple to assemble, and they will definitely make a nice impression.

If you love chocolate as much as I do, you may be interested in reading an article that I wrote called How Chocolate is Made.  Incidentally, did you know that the average American consumes eleven pounds of chocolate each year?  It’s possible  highly likely that I would have skewed that number a bit if the survey included my chocolate consumption levels!  What can I say…it kind of runs in my family!

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

XO,

Blair
